The History Behind The PMN Service.The concept of PMN came about in early 2006 as an alternative to the existing service providers who charged extortionate rates for DID/DDI numbers, although most of the other providers are now gone, which one reason for this could be due to the high prices charged and out priced themselves from the market. But to this day some providers still charge as much as £23.00 per month, yes per month and not including call connection charges. This of course out prices most home users if not all and some SME's, it is simply not a viable option for them at those high prices. Just to show that still to this day some providers are still charging extortionate rates for DID Numbers, we added Adverts to our site as this shows adverts relevant from other companies, of course our all of which are the competition, but we've nothing to hide in our pricing, but check how much these companies are publically advertising for a single number, don't forget to read the small print too, as some of them even charge for the call termination/divert/forwarding and don't allow you to change the divert unless you pay £10.00 plus. So those folk behind Melonite UK wanted to come up with a solution that would enable everyone who wanted to have a DID/DDI Number the option at the absolutely lowest possible cost. After the idea came about and several meetings later, it was by now 8th January 2007 the first site launched, called PMN v1, it was simple and basic and allowed users to take an 0703 number and divert it to UK mobile and landlines. September 2007 - A short time and again several meetings later we added more number ranges. This time it was 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 Numbers, allowing the diverting to VoIP Networks using SIP, IAX2, we also re-designed the website, and PMN v2 was born which included a premium account service with extra services only available to premium account holders. October 2007 - We begin to provide 0330 UK Wide Numbers, initially with an allocation of 1000 numbers, and offered them at a unbelievable price of merely £15 per year, within weeks of this we sell almost half of our available numbers, even other communication providers were buying them from us! Within a short time we receive correspondence from a "trade representative" claiming what we were doing was not in the our best interest and that we should reconsider our pricing policy on the new UK Wide numbers. However we continue to sell our remaining allocation. On application for a further numbers within of 0330 we don't just find it hard but impossible to secure further numbers. Although allocations we're available, none of these we're available to ourselves. April 2008 - We cease to provide new 0871 numbers, although allowing existing users to retain the number. August 2008 - We reach 5,000 active users. That means we made it possible for 5,000 people to obtain a number. September 2008 - A new Support Portal is launched allowing our users an easier way to obtain support online and track any support queries. We also added the H.323 protocol as a divert option. December 2008 - We scrap the Premium Account Service, and make all accounts premium without any charge, those who had paid the annual fee we're refunded in full. March 2009 - Due to demand we take the leap into providing UK Geographic 01 and 02 numbers for an annual charge of £14.99. Since we started the service, we received hundreds of e-mails and telephone calls asking the same question "Do you offer Geographic DID number?" and our answer had always been no. Well now we've changed that answer and we are proud to be able to say YES. Our research has shown we are the only DID provider in the UK to offer UK DID numbers that is not tied into a VoIP Service, and gives the end-user full control of the number. April 2009 - PMN v3 is launched. A Brand New website with Brand New features. We have listened to our users requests of things such as secure website via TSL/SSL (https) to ensure your details are kept safe. From the very onset of PMN, we have provided nothing but UK Direct Inward Dialling (DID) Numbers, and have no intentions of "branching out" into other fields such as hardware or anything else not directly related to VoIP, we like to think that we are good at what we do and strive to improve the service. May 2009 - PMN allocates it's 10,000th number, that ranks us higher than most. We have agreements in place with a number of large carriers giving us access to reach this mile stone. August 2009 - PMN Begins to offer a full VoIP service including SIP and IAX2 termination at near to wholesale rates. September 2009 - We begin to offer a full number porting service(number transfer) from BT, VirginMedia as well as a wide range of UK and ROI VoIP Providers. Full details on our Number Porting page. January 2010 - PimpMyNumber formally re-brand's itself as PMN Telecom. This was down to several factors, although the original terms and services all remain in place and unchanged. We have a number of business relationships with Network Operators and other Service Providers which enables PMN to build on to it's existing network and in return provide the best possible service to our end users and our channel partners at all times.
